Separation

For those of you who have been upset about the separation of children and parents on the immigration front, for those of you who name the name of Christ as your savior, may I make a suggestion? This is for everyone, no matter which side of the fence you stand on.

Turn your anger and arguing on social media into posted prayer. Be bold enough to do this. I have some suggestions on what to pray for but first, listen to God’s word through James, the brother of Jesus.

James 1:20-27

Human anger] does not produce the righteousness God desires. So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls. But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.

Please pray for the following:

  1. Placing families in a safe environment is a monumental task. Our leaders and all government and non-government resources need wisdom that only God can give. Many children are teens that are unaccompanied and there are a lot of deceptive stories being presented in the midst of those families who are truly needing a new beginning. Pray for wisdom.
  2. Safe environments are scarce. Pray for more hospitality to open up.
  3. Ask God what your part is in all of this. At the very least, pray. Post your prayers online instead of casting blame and accusations. No matter which side of this fence you stand on, ask God for healing, protection, wisdom for all.

If the idea of families being separated upsets you, please know that this goes on in every community in the USA. What if the church would be the safe environment for the children to go to? What if each church would adopt one family, not to give charity (although that is needed too) but to guide, educate and help the family get on their feet? What if each church would take in one family’s children when separation does happen? What is your church body doing about this?

I hate that we have to do things through the government. I wish that the first place families would turn to would be the church. But we have earned the reputation of casting blame and doing nothing to help. We are so afraid of being taken advantage of that we judge all and do nothing. The result is that government has an astronomical system of help that is then subject to deception, corruption and waste. And I might add, usually following philosophies that are not Biblical. What if we relied on God who gives wisdom when we ask what our response is to be?

Think about it will you? Please.

At the very least, stop arguing online which does nothing to solve the problem. Pray. Spend the time and energy asking God to heal the broken, give wisdom to those who are helping and to protect those who need help. Without His wisdom,  we will not be able to do His will in this matter.
