Easy Soup Recipe for an Upset Stomach

This comforting broth made with simple ingredients is easy to make and it will calm your upset stomach.

This recipe is quick and easy to make and is good for you. The broth can also part of a partial fast or cleanse or a hearty starter for soups. The best part about it-it’s actually really good!

That sore tummy!

A sore tummy started soon after I began eating a lot of fresh-picked organic strawberries. I rarely suffer from an upset stomach, so I just figured I wasn’t used to eating all those berries. (How do you stop?) But, after three weeks, long after the berries were gone, the tummy pains were getting worse. It wasn’t fresh fruit that was causing the upset. I wasn’t sick but I didn’t feel up to par either. Then, I caught a cold on top of having an upset stomach. (That seldom happens to me either.)

 Something had to be done, but what?

I was craving bone broth! So, I decided to take action. I knew I needed to give my digestive system a break and bone broth sounded really good. 

Fresh and organic is best.

At Seasons of Devotion homefront, I had all of the veggies of this recipe in my organic garden. It’s a great feeling to know that the vegetables would go from garden to soup in minutes. And then, I saw that Aldi had organic broth on sale for $1.49 per quart. Guess where I went and purchased several quarts! 

In order to heal an upset stomach fast, a semi-fast may be the answer.

For me, that means liquids only throughout the day and an easy to digest, small meal at supper. Your body may go into detox mode but it shouldn’t last long. You may feel a bit sluggish or have a headache for a day, but it will be worth it. You may find relief from your upset stomach within a day or two and your sense of well-being may be restored soon as well. 

This broth is not only good for an upset stomach, it is also a great base for many soups.

Easy Soup Recipe for an Upset Stomach

Ingredients

  • 1 small bunch of green onions
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 4 tbls organic butter
  • 1) 3 inch sprig rosemary
  • 1 quart low sodium organic bone broth, chicken or beef or combination
  • 2 tbls. Organic Beef Gelatin Powder
  • 2 tbls. Powdered Collagen, non-gmo

Directions

  1. Chop green onions, celery, and carrots.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan and add the chopped veggies.
  3. Cook and stir on medium heat for 5 minutes.
  4. Add all of the bone broth and the sprig of rosemary.
  5. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat to simmer for 20 minutes.
  6. Carefully mash the veggies in the pot to release more flavor.
  7. Strain into a 3-quart bowl.
  8. Add the gelatin and the collagen, whisking until dissolved.  
  9. Serve hot and enjoy. 

Pour leftover soup in a quart jar to save space. Store in the refrigerator. Feel free to substitute a different herb for the rosemary (or none). 

This recipe will become a favorite base for your soups.
