I remember the joys of discovering the secrets inside parts of the plants as we looked inside seeds, followed the path of tubes from the roots to the tips of leaves, and were amazed at the parts of the flowers. I believe that experiential learning is the best way to learn. That means that I created my own scope and sequence and the details of how to teach it while I used textbooks as a guide. My kids learned to think outside the box simply because they did not have a box!

Teaching styles and learning styles are varied. You may prefer a more traditional approach to education but you may want help with the activities that you find here that will supplement your curriculum. No matter what your teaching style, you’ve come to the right place!

These botany lessons are already done for you and they are free. Not only are the lessons free, but I also made the printable workbooks free too! The Secret Inside series is a foundational study of botany from a lovely book that is no longer in print, “Grocery Store Botany” by Joan Elma Rahn. I have recreated her chapters into daily lessons and included a FREE student workbook for each lesson. Upon completion of all chapters, your student will have a treasure full of memories that he or she created. The bonus to the parent or teacher is that the supplies can be found in a grocery store. It’s a really inexpensive way to teach botany. And the kiddos just might eat their lessons!

Enjoy these FREE lessons!

Look at it this way: experiential learning gives them a peg to hang the “book” learning on.

May all you weeds be wildflowers,
